Proper animal care, health and comfort are the foundation of our management philosophy.
Our pork is healthy, free-range and naturally lean. Our hogs are raised in large open areas and never confined to small pens thus eliminating the need for antibiotics so commonly used in confinement raising. Allowing them room to move and play is key to producing our healthy pork without the need for growth hormones. Free range hogs are naturally healthier and more robust than confinement raised pigs.
Our breeding stock can usually be found socializing, wallowing in clean dirt, rooting weeds or just basking in the sun. They love treats and come when called. Our sows are allowed to only required to farrow once a year and they dote on their youngsters.
Consuming naturally raised pork is a healthier choice. All our hogs diet includes a locally raised grains and hay. The meat from pastured hogs is a more flavorful and leaner than that of confinement raised pigs. Our primary feed, wheat and barley, produces a light color that is more appealing than hogs fed corn or soybean. The grains are then blended with vegetable proteins, minerals and vitamins. Our hog feeds contain no rendered animal protein products, nor are any reclaimed fats or oils are used.
We specialize in Duroc/Yorkshire cross pigs. They produce a lean, medium size carcass with good bacon and ham characteristics.
