Proper animal care, health and comfort are the foundation of our management philosophy.

Our eggs are healthy, free-range and naturally tasty. Allowing our hens room to move and play is key to producing eggs without the need for anitbiotics or hormones.

Our chickens can usually be found socializing, wallowing in clean dust, hunting bugs or just basking in the sun. They love treats and come when called. Our hens are allowed to set their own nests and they dote on their youngsters. Additional chicks are purchased from nearby hatcheries.

Consuming free range eggs is a healthier choice. All our birds diet includes a locally raised grains and hay. Our primary feed, wheat and barley, produces a light color yolk that is more appealing than chicken fed corn. The grains are then blended with vegetable proteins, minerals and vitamins. Our chicken feeds contain no rendered animal protein products, nor are any reclaimed fats or oils are used.

Cage raised egg producing hens are harvested at the end of their first laying year. Our hens are allowed grow slowly, live longer and under better conditions than the average confinement bird.

We specialize in Hertiage breed Orpington chickens which lay a lightly tinted brown egg of good size.

Some characteristics of an Orpington are:

  • Heavy (7 to 10 pounds),
  • Soft, profuse feathering, which almost hides the legs of the bird,
  • Curvy shape with a short back and U-shaped underline,
  • A small head with a small comb.
  • Large and usually tame
  • Fluffy feathers make it look distinctivly large.

We offer eggs by the dozen or use our CSA SHARES. Just send us an email for more information.
