Barrel Racing is a timed event demanding an athletic horse and dedicated rider. Historically, barrel racing developed as a rodeo event, originally for women. It is now a high paying competition on its own with competitors of all ages and genders.

Traditional barrel racing comprises three barrels arranged in a triangle. Depending on the individual rules, may be set in an equilateral triangle of 75 ft on a side and the professional layout of much larger size.
