Cream and white

Cream colored Malamutes receive both only red genes from their parents. With a dilute gene the cream Malamute has red tipped guard hairs with a long white base, white or light buff undercoat; may have light red trimming on the ears, elbows and hocks. The color can be so light as to often be confused with an all white Malamute.

If you see diluted red coloring on the topline and tail and distinct liver or brown pigmentation, the dog is, in fact, a very light red.

Often open face; or a cap, and reddish bar, or eye shadow with star, blaze or stripe. May show a faint reddish mask.

Breeder's Note: There is no black factor evident in the expressed coat color of the cream Malamute. A cream Mal may very likely be homozygous for liver. if there is any black hairs evident in the puppy coat, then the Mal could be a very light wolf sable.

The "dilute gene" or lack of it is responsible for the depth of color, it is amassed in totally seperate loci from the dominate or recessive genes.
